What Are the Top Signs Your CPAP Machine Is Not Working?

Do you have obstructive sleep apnea? If so, there is a chance that you rely on CPAP machine to make it easier for you to breathe at night. Unfortunately, there are situations where your CPAP machine will not work as it should. You need to identify these issues as quickly as possible because they have to be addressed. Furthermore, if you believe there is something innately wrong with your CPAP machine, then you may want to reach out to a lawyer for a defective CPAP machine. What are a few of the signs that something is wrong with your CPAP machine, and what do you need to do to address the issue?

1. The Air Is Dry and Cold

One of the first signs that your CPAP machine might not be working properly is that the air is dry and cold. If you feel cold, dry air coming into your nostrils, it could be a sign of a serious problem. You need your CPAP machine to warm the air when it approaches your nose and mouth to prevent dry skin and irritation. There are probably settings on your CPAP machine that can warm up the air, increase the humidity, and prevent problems from happening. If the air is cold and dry, you need to get your CPAP machine looked at.

2. You Are Snoring Again at Night

The next sign that something might be wrong with your CPAP machine is that you are snoring again at night. Even though some people may snore from time to time, it can be particularly problematic if you are snoring constantly. For example, your partner may complain that you are keeping him or her up at night, or you might have an app on your phone that is telling you you are snoring loudly. The entire purpose of your CPAP machine is to make it easier for you to breathe at night. If you are snoring loudly, this could be a sign that your CPAP machine is not doing its job, so you need to get it looked at.

3. You Are Sleepy During the Day

One of the hallmark symptoms of sleep apnea is that you are sleepy during the day because you do not get enough sleep at night. If you find that you are sleepy during the day once again, it may be a sign that your CPAP machine is not doing its job. If your CPAP machine is working well, you should not be sleepy during the day, as you are getting enough sleep at night. On the other hand, if you find you are once again sleepy during the day, it is a sign that your CPAP machine is not keeping your airway open, which is why you cannot get quality sleep.
