They allow lots of air inside and they’re light and easy to use. They can also make a great seal for keeping the wind and rain out.
The drawbacks? If a big ol’ gust of wind comes along, they can get battered against the side of the house. Plus, you can’t fit a window air conditioner into a casement window, which you can in a single-hung or double-hung window.

Sliding Windows

They also have a big bar running down the middle, which obstructs your view. Over time they can stick, so you need to regularly maintain their runners.
